Daily, we were passing the Orthodox Jews with long sideburns and their prayer book in hand. Almost hourly we were hearing the Muslim call to prayer in Arabic. The words of Jesus were constantly coming to our minds… “spirit and truth”. Zach mentioned how amazing it is for us, as believers in Jesus Christ, to have the Holy Spirit. We do not have to chant repeated phrases over and over at a specific place.

The Western Wall (the large bottom stones are the only stones still standing from the temple that was destroyed in 70 A.D.)

Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

Jews from around the world will come to the Western Wall to celebrate their child’s 13th birthday (12th for girls, called Bat-Mitzvah). We were there on the day for celebrating Bar-Mitzvahs (for boys) and the celebrations were quite lively with the blowing of the shofars (ram horns), singing, and parading near the wall. Someone we were with said, “Wow, if only we did this when someone joined the church!”
